Google Serving Up Some Outdated Dated Data

Man!

There are two things online right now that just need to be FIXED.

First and foremost: Google, Puuhhhllllleeease find a way to tell when a page is outdated. PLEASE fix this!

OK, I’m still speaking directly to Google: I know how it works on your end with HTML and XML headers, but perhaps you can find *something* in your tool bag that can tag or otherwise mark DATED content on the internet. I understand, from an archival sense, that all the indexed data you have needs to be preserved.

But good grief!

Outdated information is considered by Google to be relevant. There should be some way to solve this problem.

As SEO “enthusiasts”, all we EVER hear from Google is “Relevance”. In fact, the Market Samaruai dude calls it the #1 Golden Rule of Keyword Research. If you want to rank in Google’s top ten, your content (and therefore your keyword research) must be relevant.

Cool, I like the idea of relevance. So - next time I type “best video format for online streaming” into Google’s search box….I DON’T want results from your search engine that are dated 2004! That’s FIVE years ago.

Streaming video is a relatively hot topic online as it is easier than ever to do these days - um, in 2009!  Wanting to know the best format for uploading your own videos is likely a question you might ask before doing so.

Contemplating the differences in streaming video between 2004 and now - oh I won’t even go there. So, basically Google, you delivered useless results - in the top 10 SERP.

(Still speaking to Google)

You’ve made huge advancements on real-time searching - what with all the social media explosions every second of every single day. PLEASE take some time to work on your archival methods and then make a clean sweep of anything in the top 100 results!

Ugh, I’ve been repeating this for years. Google is not a library - it’s a search engine!

FIX it!

Ok, on to the second complaint because I haven’t already bitched enough, right?

Blog Comment SPAM - It is such a waste of time and I really don’t understand why anyone would pursue it.

Of course, now that I’ve said that…I’ll probably start getting a lot more.

Whew…decompressing. Now I’ll go delete 147 SPAM comments.
