Windows Live Writer
Coming soon to a blog near you…its’s a live blog post!
Well, that’s a little dramatic.
I have to admit one of the issues that keeps me from blogging more often is the process involved of loading the admin into my browser, logging into my blog, writing the post, checking the post, publishing the post, etc. Also consider the fact that I work on more than one blog.
My problem is NOT that all this is so difficult, it really isn’t. It’s just a bit cumbersome. I mean I will actually take the time to type out my idea for a blog post in my notes – and then I never seem to get back to it because I get busy with something more ‘important’.
Um, my whole original intent for this blog was for notekeeping, how-to’s and such that I would intentionally refer back to.
Do ya think I am over-working it a bit?
The point of all this is that I have finally started testing some software that allows me to post blogs from my computer. I can also use it write drafts when I am traveling, and the post once I am online again.
I am starting with Windows Live Writer. I am not a huge Microsoft fan (although I used to be) so I shudder to consider what might happen, long-term. Just bad memories, I tell ya.
Since I am only in the testing phase, I like the fact that Live Writer is free. As I like to say, “Free” is always an asset to profit.
I am actually writing, all in about 15 minutes, rather than just making a note about a post that I will never write. Let’s just hope Windows Live Writer is everything I hope it to be.
So far what I do like is the interface. I have never liked using a web browser for writing, editing or reading. I use a lot of keyboard shortcuts. They don’t work the same when you are typing within a browser!
One other obvious advantage aside from “free” and “easy” is that I can manage multiple blogs. It is as easy as adding the url and login to the software. That’s a HUGE time-saver!
Do you use off-line blogging software?
