Can’t Mind Maps be Viewed and Printed More Easily?

I am working on the second module in Andy William’s Wordpress for Affiliate Sites and Andy has included a mind map.

I used mind maps for a while, although I didn’t like ANY of the software that facilitate using a mind map on your computer. I tried a bunch of different ones and they were all slow and kludgy.

Well, Andy asks that we print a mind map for the second module and I really don’t mind that so much except that I have to install mind map software to view the map.

You can get a demo of the program free for 30 days, but you have to give away a ton of info and then it is an 85MB download! (I learned this the hard way.)

Unfortunately, the company gave no easy way for me to see they also have a viewer, but a Google search revealed just that! So, I can download the viewer without the full install. Great!

Still, it’s a HUGE file! The installer is 25MB alone, just the installation files!

Ugh…I don’t get it. I don’t get why someone can’t create a mind mapping software app that has a smaller footprint, is not a memory hog, and operates at an acceptable speed!

And, while we are at, I would actually PAY right this minute for a small app that will let me view and print others’ mind maps - as long as it meets the needs of my gripes above.

I just want to print the map. Won’t a jpg export work? Won’t someone write an export engine for these things that will allow the map to be exported to multiple gif or jpg files?

Then each of those files could be printed onto a separate piece of paper and puzzled together. Also, those formats would be suitable for displaying the files online.

I am sure there is something here I am missing, if it were that simple, someone would have already done it.
